E85 – The crown of thorns
“ They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.” (Matthew XXVII, 28 – 29)
Jesus on ‘his’ throne, in ‘his’ wicker chair, with ‘his’ scepter and of course ‘his’ crown of thorns. A fever of mockers, kneeling and making immoral signs. A Jew spits on him, someone hiding behind a carnival mask hits him and asks who has hit him. A sort of butcher grins sadistically. A high priest expresses his wrath and a servant with a stick presses the crown of thorns on the head of Jesus.
