E23 – The house of Jesus
“Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.” (John I, 39)
Actually, this engraving immediately follows E20 (Calling of the first apostles). The house of Jesus has a cross shape that is unconsciously embraced by John. The window is the window to the world, the table with the book could refer to an altar in what we might call ‘the house of the future’.
This work was made in Cocaraya (Bolivia) between the 25th of March and the 16th of April 1935.
